So, I'm new to this. Probably apparent by now! I'm a college student at Brigham Young University currently majoring in Mechanical Engineering but considering another switch. To be honest, I have no idea what I want to do with my life. I've always had issues making decisions and choosing a major has proven to be no exception! I loved math and science in high school, AP Physics was probably the best class I ever took...and I was good at. However, Physics 123 here at BYU (apparently the 4th most stressful school in the US) is not quite as simple as I was hoping. The fact that I did not take either of the pre-requisites could have something to do with that... Anyways, enough about the nerdy stuff!
If you haven't caught on yet.. I'm a Mormon. And yes, I love it. Honestly, BYU freaked me out at first. So many people with knee length shorts, dancing, singing, smiling, and I swear everyone plays the piano. Boys hold doors open, ask girls on dates, go to church on Sundays... it's quite a culture shock coming from California. And if the culture didn't get to you, try the first day of classes where you go from being an AP student with over a 4.0, holding school athletic records, Homecoming royalty..one of a kind right?! Wrong. Once you get to BYU, you realize that EVERYONE (and by everyone, I literally mean every single person) was homecoming royalty, valedictorian, AP scholar, nationally ranked athlete, or a combination of the above. Good luck standing out. (: It's a little intimidating at first. Especially when you don't recognize a single face you see throughout the day. It gets better though, I promise!
So that was first semester. Now I work as a Resident Assistant in Helaman Halls (and no, it's actually not social suicide). Then again, it helps being a freshman (: It's a little bit weird being the "moral support" and in charge of a floor of girls who are all older than me but I absolutely love it. I work with the best people, my floor is awesome, and I have learned so much (and it's only been a MONTH!) <3
So there's a recap of my BYU experience thus far. More to come if I can figure out how to work this blog situation... Thanks for reading <3
